In this month’s issue of VOGUE Brazil 2013, Anna Dello Russo styled a pictorial based solely on the style and influence of Carmen Miranda. Miranda was a Portuguese-born Brazilian singer, dancer, Broadway actress, and film star who was popular in the 1940s.
Carmen’s style was heavily stylized and overly flamboyant. She was a fan of vibrant colors and platform shoes (I personally have the same style genre). Saks 5th Avenue even designed a line of turbans after her in 1939. Clearly she was a style icon of that time.
The pictorial falls short of nothing but perfection. Dello Russo styled the models in perfect attire while giving it a playful edge. Carmen Miranda herself would be proud!!
